Hindu Forum Canada, alongside the broader Hindu community, asserts that Canada is enriched by the contributions of over 1.4 million Hindu Canadians, who greatly enhance their collective sense of faith and belonging. Hindus make difference from notable achievements in literature, civil rights, arts, entertainment, government, business, medicine, and science to their daily contributions within Canadian communities. Hindus are integral to the spirit of Canada.
Despite our positive contributions, we don’t feel safe in Canada. Our community expresses deep concern about our safety and security amidst the ongoing political controversies surrounding alleged foreign (India) interference in Canada. Our community and temples have already faced attacks by extremist elements glorifying terrorism on Canadian soil. We, as Canadian Hindus, are deeply troubled by remarks of organizations such as Sikhs for Justice and its leader Mr. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Once he threatened Canadian Hindus to leave Canada followed by threats to disrupt Air India flights from Canada to India. Regrettably, our concerns have not been addressed by Canadian authorities. The current political discourse regarding India’s alleged interference in Canada exacerbates the situation, further emboldening extremist elements. Additionally, we have advised the Canadian government against interfering in Indian democracy through ill-considered statements, yet such actions persist.
Hindu
Forum Canada on behalf of Hindu Community in Canada extends its deepest
gratitude to all Members of Parliament who demonstrate principled leadership by
opposing the non-binding motion M-112 proposed by the Member of Parliament for
Surrey-Newton, BC, Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal.
At present,
the Hindu community is dismayed by the misrepresentation of the proposed motion
by Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal of British Columbia, which has left a lingering
dissatisfaction among community members. Such misrepresentation and the
resulting disillusionment underscore our firm belief that proposing motions of
this nature is unwarranted.
It is both
disappointing and concerning that the current Liberal government appears to
struggle with distinguishing between evidence-based claims and unfounded
allegations. If passed, the motion sets a dangerous precedent where mere
allegations are legitimized by the Canadian Parliament, which is deeply
troubling for Hindus and the broader Canadian population. Canada has the
potential to adopt a more discerning and effective stance on this complex
issue. In our view, the actions of the MP Sukh Dhaliwal appear motivated more
by political strategy aimed at garnering support within anti-Hindu and
anti-Indian communities than by a genuine commitment to fostering peace or
understanding of the matter.

security of our own people. We urge you to keep our land free from the
glorification of terrorism.
