We are thrilled to share the success of our recent event hosted by Hindu Forum Canada: a special screening of the thought-provoking film “Article 370” at Ciné LOUNGE, located in Niles, IL United States on March 9.
“Article 370” delves into the intricate complexities surrounding Article 370 of the Constitution of India, which granted special autonomous status to the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Set against the backdrop of the historic revocation of this special status, commonly known as the “abrogation of Article 370,” carried out in 2019 at the inception of Narendra Modi’s second term as Prime Minister of India, the film presents a gripping narrative.
At its core, the movie follows the journey of Zooni Haksar, an Intelligence Field Officer, who is tasked by the PMO Secretary with a classified assignment aimed at dismantling the conflict economy and combating terrorism in the Kashmir valley, just before the implementation of the abrogation of Article 370.
Building upon the legacy of our past screenings, such as “The Kashmir Files” and “The Kerala Files,” our organization is committed to providing enriching cinematic experiences to our community at no cost. “Article 370” stands out as a compelling addition to this tradition, advocating for the fundamental right to choose one’s religion and promoting respect for diverse religious beliefs.
The film powerfully underscores the idea that the essence of an individual cannot be coerced into conforming to a particular religious ideology. It condemns the propagation of hatred and the exploitation of a peaceful religion for ulterior motives, emphasizing the inhumanity of such actions.
The impact of the screening was palpable, as attendees left with a renewed sense of motivation and a fervor for advocating for what is just and right. We were heartened to see such a diverse and engaged audience come together to engage with this important narrative.
Moving forward, our organization remains steadfast in our commitment to promoting values of tolerance, understanding, and justice. Through events like the screening of “Article 370,” we strive to foster dialogue, inspire action, and contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate society.
Join us as we continue to champion these principles and work towards a future where respect for diversity and human dignity prevails. Visit our website to look for upcoming event.
