Hindu Rights, Representation & Freedom

We strongly believe in advocating for Hindu rights and freedom, emphasizing our unique identity. Our continuous efforts aim to ensure accurate perceptions of Hinduism and equal respect for Hindus.

In Canada, Hindus constitute a minority, underscoring the critical need for advocacy and representation to safeguard Hindu rights and freedoms. It is imperative that the Hindu community’s voice resonates, ensuring mutual respect and fostering an environment conducive to practicing Hinduism in Canada. Our primary objective is to combat and eradicate Hinduphobia, holding perpetrators accountable, and promoting peace and coexistence, principles deeply rooted in our religious texts.

A notable achievement is our contribution to establishing November as Hindu Heritage Month. This dedicated month celebrates Hindu contributions to Canadian society, showcases our cultural richness, and educates the broader community about our values and traditions.

We pursue our goals through a comprehensive approach involving political engagement, public advocacy, and the promotion of Hindu values, culture and heritage. See details below to learn more.

Political Engagement

To secure representation and protect our rights as a minority religion in Canada, it’s vital for political leaders to grasp our perspectives and needs. We engage extensively with them to assess their alignment with Hindu values and ensure they support our community’s peaceful coexistence. We also educate leaders about misconceptions regarding Hindus and Hinduism, such as caste, Swastika and Hindutva, aiming to foster an environment in Canada where practicing Hinduism is free from discrimination and hostility. Through these efforts, we empower our community to make informed decisions about their representation.

Public Advocacy

We stand up for your rights as a Hindu Canadian. Our mission is to facilitate the practice of Hinduism without prejudice or barriers. We vehemently oppose false narratives portraying Hindus as political extremists, vagrants, superstitious, or backward as well as misinformation. We take decisive action to combat such Hinduphobic rhetoric through advocacy and lobbying efforts. Hindu Values, Culture & Heritage

In our approach to Hinduism, we prioritize cultural education by dispelling myths and correcting misinformation prevalent in society. Celebrating Hindu festivals becomes not only a cultural expression but a vibrant testament to our rich artistic and lifestyle traditions. Educating about Hinduism involves fostering a deep understanding of its philosophy and practices, ensuring clarity and respect in how our faith is perceived. Through community discussions, we explore the nuances of Hindu identity, addressing challenges faced and promoting a nuanced understanding of what it means to live by Hindu values in contemporary times.
