Hindu Forum Canada was Formed as a Corporation Under Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act (NFP Act) to Combat Hinduphobia.
In some Indian andwestern media, we witness the sizeable presence of Hinduphobia, a matter of great concern tous all. We see it everywhere, in the press, and in the proclamations of cultural intellectuals. Strangely, the landscape is crowdedwith the defense of Muslimsand their human rights withhardly any mention of the crimes and violence against Hindus. The mundane life of a Hindu seemingly carries no weightin media, organizations, and individuals. I personally witnessed this in Kashmir, especially in the 90's, when the foreign media corps were present in Srinagar, including that offoreign journalist Mark Tully. The word reported from the media laid out a story of biased and fictional human rights atrocities by the Indian Army against Kashmiri Muslims, however, ignoring the atrocities & violence against Kashmiri Hindus. The brutal murders and rapes of Hindusby the Islamic terrorist organizationknown as the Kashmiri Liberation Front (KLF) somehow was glossed over. Over 350,000 Hindus were threatened with violence &were forced to flee their homeland of Kashmir by the Kashmiri Liberation Front, and sadly, even this was not covered by global media conglomerates. This act forced Hindus to become refugees in their own country, and despite this, Hindus neverraised arms in protest, heading the values and teachings of Hinduism; yet, Hindus were painted in a bad light by the likes of Mark Tully and biased media. Hinduphobia still persists, to this day, and on larger platforms and stages.
Hinduphobia becomes ever so clear when the world media unproportionally reports the instant uproar of a crime against a Christian or a Muslim, but little in the case when it comes to Hindus. Citing examples, we all remember how strongly the media reacted when, unfortunately and sadly, Australian Christian missionary Graham Staines was burnt alive with his two sons; more recently, of the lynching of a Muslim over suspicion of a cow killing in Dadri. But ironically, we do not see the same level of reporting when it comes to Hindus who are killed in a similar fashion. The mainstream chooses to avert their eyes.
Quite a few killings of RSS/BJP workers have taken place in Kerala recently, notwithstanding the uproar, we hardly find a mention of these crimes against Hindus in either print or digital. This is especially worrisome for a Hindu like myself, which raises an important question: is the life of a Muslim or a Christian more important than that of a Hindu from the media?
